Each one of us desires to be healthy. There is a God given aversion in us to sickness, disease and dying. God did not create us to be anything less than perfectly healthy.

The scriptures clearly state that sickness is a curse. Sickness came into this world when Adam died spiritually. Adam by his own will made satan lord and father over him. The nature of spiritual death replaced the nature of God’s life in Adam’s spirit. Man was not sick before he died spiritually. Adam’s sin was not God’s will neither are the results of that sin God’s will. satan through the fall of man is the origin of the curse and all its provisions.

Sin is manifested in the spirit and sickness in the body. Both are the result of satan and the rulership that man committed to satan.

In Old Testament times, it was necessary for Israel to diligently harken to God’s Word. The curse was a powerful force that had overtaken the whole world.

But God’s Word – power greater than evil could stop the effect of the curse. Keeping God’s covenant was Israel’s only deliverance.

But through disobedience to the law they took themselves from under God’s protection and blessing. When they turned away from God’s Word, disease filled their bodies (Deut. 28:15). But thank God, Jesus Christ has redeemed us from the curse (Gal 3:13).so we would not have to continue under Satan’s dominion. He redeemed the whole man- righteousness for his nature, peace for his mind and healing for his body. Redemption left nothing in force that came upon man because of sin. Jesus completely destroyed the works of the devil in the lives of man.

(John 8:28) Jesus was God’s way to man and man’s way to God. Jesus came to do God’s will in the earth to destroy the works of the devil. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil (John 6:38). God sent Jesus in direct opposition to satan, the curse and all its effects.

Every move that Jesus made and every Word that He said was geared to destroy the work of satan. Every work of power and every healing was the will of God. If we believe God’s Word, we have to believe that Jesus attitude towards sickness is God’s attitude towards sickness.

Anything that brings doubt, discouragement or defeat is from satan and not from God.

God is never the source of sickness. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above (James 1:17). Jesus came that we might have life.

Ultimately, just as He dealt with sin once and for all, Jesus also dealt with sickness, disease and infirmity once and for all at the cross.

I Peter 2:24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.

Isaiah 53:4-5 leaves no doubt that Jesus bore our sickness and disease as a part of His atonement. Isaiah’s prophecy included spiritual and emotional healing, but it certainly included physical healing for our bodies as well (Matt 8:17, Psalm 103:2-3, Luke 4:18).

Freedom from sickness and disease has been provided just like freedom from sin. It is a part of Christ’s atonement, but Christians though they have received forgiveness of their sins, still sin but they do not have to. Sin cannot enslave them unless they allow it (Rom 6:14). They still get sick after they are born again, but do not have to be. They have been redeemed from sickness. The price has been paid for their healing; sickness can no longer exert dominion over them unless they allow it.

Not all sickness however is a direct result of individual sin. We know that there are many Godly people who get sick and even die. Regardless of the cause of sickness, there is always something we can do about it. We can believe God, and He will heal ALL our diseases (Ex 15:26 & Psalm 103:3). Faith in God’s healing atonement is what overcomes sickness.

The Word of God must abide in us concerning our healing. Every Christian has a covenant with God that includes divine health but most of us do not know that healing belongs to us. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge”. Christians have allowed sickness and disease to destroy their bodies. But God’s Word says by His (Jesus) stripes we were healed (I Peter 2:24)

God has provided several ways in which we can receive healing. (James 5:14-15). The prayer of faith shall save the sick (I Cor 12:9, Luke 9:1-2, Matt 10:1, Mark 16:15-18, John 14:12).

Just as Jesus empowered His disciples to preach the gospel, cast out unclean spirits and heal the sick, He also empowers believers today to do the same.

The very instant we received the Lord as our Saviour and were born again God placed that raising from the dead power on the inside of us (Eph 1:19) in our born again spirit. We just need to understand what has already been provided by grace and learn how to release that provision out into our soul and body by faith.

Every true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ was given the measure of faith (Rom 12:3). That faith is sufficient to accomplish whatever we need. The problem is not that we do not have faith; the problem is that we have unbelief that cancels out the force of faith.

(Matt 17:20) Jesus told his disciples that a very small amount of faith was sufficient to move a mountain. He was telling them that their faith was not the problem but that unbelief was cancelling their faith. It is possible to have both faith and unbelief present at the same time (Matt 21:21). Jesus said to believe, without doubting. If believing excludes doubting, then it would have been unnecessary to say that. (Mark 9:21-24). The father of the child believed, but he had unbelief too.

Unbelief comes the same way faith comes. Faith comes by hearing the Word of God (Rom 10:17). Unbelief and doubt comes by hearing the wrong things – things contrary to the Word of God. When we focus our attention on God and His promises faith rises. But when we focus our attention on this world and its deceptions unbelief rises. To decrease our unbelief, we have to decrease the influence of the world on our thoughts. However we cannot just cast out our carnal thoughts, thoughts have to be replaced by God’s thoughts expressed in His Word. (Isaiah 55:7-11)

According to Jesus we take thoughts not just by thinking them but by saying them (Matt 6:31). We take God’s thoughts expressed in His Word and renew our minds.

We should choose the Word relevant to our problem say-(1Peter 2:24), then decide to think it. We think the Word and then say it until eventually we are speaking the Word without even thinking about it. When that happens, the Word is in our hearts in abundance (Luke 6:45)

Prov 4:20-23 – This is God’s prescription for life and health. Give time to the Word; give thought and meditation to theWord. Your mind will be free from fear and doubt (Isa 26: 3)

Believe and Receive

One of the most important things for seeing our healing manifest is to speak to the problem (Mark 11:23). We should follow Jesus instructions and command the mountain to be cast into the sea. He told us to speak directly to our problems and command them to respond to God’s power. When satan attempts to put sickness on our body, we should refuse it in the Name of Jesus, turn to I Peter 2:24 and read it aloud. Receive it in faith and thank God that by His stripes we were healed. By knowledge of God’s spiritual laws, we who are in Christ can once again exercise authority in the earth. We have the authority of Jesus to stop the effect of the curse in our life (Matt 18:18-19)

We should “stand fast through the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free (Gal 5:1). With His Name, His Word, His Spirit and Jesus as our Healer, we can enjoy divine health.

To get results, we must believe that we receive our healing when we pray and not after we are well. We are to join Abraham who “considered not his own body…” and consider what God says (Rom 4:19).

When we believe that we receive healing we may be healed instantly or the symptoms of sickness may continue to linger. This is the time we must hold fast to a fearless confession of the Word (Heb 10:35-36). For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance so that you may perform and fully accomplish the Will of God. We must not allow our fearless confidence to be snatched away from us by satan. We should be steadfast and patient knowing that God’s Word does not fail. We should refuse to be moved by what we see. The Word of God will change what we can see. We should be moved by the Word and by our confession of Jesus as Healer. This is walking by faith and not by sight.

Since faith works by love, we have to obey the command to forgive (Mark 11:25). So, before we finish the prayer of faith we must forgive while we stand praying. We must do it on purpose as an act of our will, not because we feel like it but because Jesus told us to do it, then we immediately receive our own forgiveness. We should ask for forgiveness, though it might be hard and if the person still does not forgive us we can always bless them. Once we forgive we can be sure that it will not affect our faith. We can then speak to our problem. First enter His gates with thanksgiving (Psalm 100:4). Begin to praise and magnify God that it is already done. This builds our faith and encourages us. Thank the Lord that He wants us to be well and praise Jesus that by His stripes we are already healed and claim healing by faith in the Name of Jesus. Then we speak to our problem – pain, sickness (or whatever)

We should speak directly to the pain in our leg or back, saying, “Back, I command you to receive the healing power of God. Pain- leave me now in the Name of Jesus.” It will obey you if you believe.

Command the sickness to leave in Jesus name. Command the healing power of God into the body. By Jesus stripes we are healed. Thank God.

Our faith gets stronger as we use it to act on God’s Word. As we learn to stand against Satan and his symptoms we will find it continues to become easier. But there is no formula that will work effectively unless we continually exert the force of faith through feeding on God’s Word.

In the parable of the sower, Jesus teaches that the Word of God is the seed and the hearts of men are the ground (Mark 4:14-20). The faith seed concerning our healing must be planted in our heart before we can successfully reap the healing harvest. By hearing the Word, we continue to develop the faith for our healing. The force of that faith then rises up in us to receive God’s healing power in our body. (John15:7)If ye abide in me, and my Words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. (Prov 4:20-23). God’s Word is medicine. He sent His Word and healed us and delivered us from our destructions (Psalm 107:20)
