And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him; but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless; I will come to you.
- John 14:16-18
The Holy Spirit is the most important person on the face of the earth today. He has more wisdom and knowledge than in all our libraries. He is the one that God sent to do and finish the work that God intended to be done. The Holy Spirit is the Administrator and Executor of the kingdom of God. He is the only one who can reveal the things of the kingdom and of its King.(1 Cor 2:11-12.)
The Old Testament is primarily the work of the Father. The New Testament is primarily the work of the Son, but in our present age this is known as the work of the Holy Spirit. The Father introduced and sent the Son. The Son introduced and sent the Holy Spirit.
(John 16:7-16, 22) Jesus introduced the Holy Spirit to the world. The New Testament ushers in the dispensation of the Holy Spirit. The last days began when Jesus rose from the dead, and the Holy Spirit was released on the earth. When we receive the Holy Spirit, we become carriers of the kingdom of God, which is revealed in and through the Spirit. The Holy Spirit is always at work in the lives of God’s people who yield themselves to Him. He produces great spiritual activity, manifesting miracles, healings, signs and wonders, producing change or transformation in the people. Righteousness, peace and joy are possible only where the Holy Spirit operates. The Holy Spirit is a spirit of freedom. If we sin, we come to God and repent. God takes the responsibility to fix us; He heals us and forgives us. The Holy Spirit is our counselor. He will be permanently with us to convict us and guide and teach us. (John 14:16, 17) We need to obey the Holy Ghost and set our lives straight, by getting the Word of God in our hearts and in our mouths laying hold of God’s promises and the Holy Spirit who is waiting for us to speak the Word of God in faith delivers the power necessary to cause that word to manifest in our lives.
The Holy Spirit prophesied the coming of Jesus. He conceived Jesus Christ in the womb of Mary. He sealed the baptism of Jesus, and led Jesus into the wilderness to be tested to see if he was ready for his responsibility. It is the Holy Spirit who takes us through tests. It was by the power of the Holy Spirit that Jesus ministered. His crucifixion was in the Holy Spirit. He was resurrected by the Holy Spirit. He ascended to heaven by the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, I will send you the promise of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit regenerates the New Birth. He indwells the believer (1Cor 6:19).He seals the believer, to preserve us, and also as a sign. (Eph 1:13, 14)He adopts the believer. (2 Tim 2:19, 21) He fills the believer and continues to fill people. (Acts 2:4) The Holy Spirit is the author of the Scriptures. (2 Peter 1:20,21) (2Tim 3:16) He interprets the scripture (1Cor 2:9, 14) We need the Holy Spirit to understand the Bible, He brings revelation. He guides the believer (Gal 5:16, Rom 8:14, Acts 8:29) The Holy Spirit anoints the believer (1 John 2:27) He sanctifies the believer (1 Peter 1:23) He provides fruit for the believer and empowers the believer, enabling us to do what we are called to do. When we are born-again and baptized we have the Holy Spirit of God on the inside and as we surrender ourselves to Him, He changes and puts out things in our life which are not of God. Whatever we can endure, we never change. (Poverty, sickness) Whatever we can tolerate, God will never move. Until we become hungry for God, then the fullness of the Spirit of God comes. We can be in water and not be inthe water. That is why Jesus in (John 20:22) breathed on the disciples and said, “Receive ye the Holy Spirit”. They had to believe that when he breathed on them the Spirit was in them. Then he told them to go and wait in Jerusalem till they are empowered from on high. (Acts 1:4) He separates Convert ion from Baptism. We too must receive the infilling and energizing power of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The fullness of Christ by the gifts of the Spirit manifests. The gifts are given to show that Jesus is alive now, so we must not merchandise them. The Holy Spirit manifests Himself in many ways. He imparts gifts based on the need. The gifts follow the believer, we do not seek the gifts just to say we have them, but because we need them. Christians who seek after signs and power to stimulate their spirits (Matt 16:1-6) are like the pagans who are involved in witchcraft. Misplaced emphasis of outward manifestation of the Spirit rather than the Jesus of the Spirit. Christ must be lifted up. We must desire to bring God’s kingdom on earth. Only God can change lives.
Jesus was the only man who said, I go away but I will come again.(John16:16,22) I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice and your joy no man taketh from you. The Holy Spirit was in Jesus. He voluntarily limited himself so we can become unlimited .He was God and man. To relate to us he had to become man and to stay in touch with his own nature he had to remain God, (John16:28) I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world; again I leave the world, and go to the Father. Jesus laid aside his original power and glory, his eternal riches, to be subject to time, space and death. Christ was born under the law to redeem us. He became limited to space; therefore Jesus never went beyond Palestine. Christ came to save the world, but he was limited in a little space. He stayed in one area. God trapped because of us.(Zach 4:6) Not by might, not by power but by my Spirit says the Lord of Hosts.
The Holy Spirit was in Christ. He was trapped in Jesus Christ. All the power that created the Universe was in Christ.(John 16:7) Jesus said, Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away; for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
Jesus had the Holy Spirit without measure, trapped in the body of Jesus, trapped in space and time. It is better that I go, said Jesus, if I go greater works shall you do, because I go to the Father, then the Holy Spirit can come back, then instead of having one body in one place at one time limited by one geographical area, I will be able to do greater works, everywhere, anytime all the time on everybody. The Holy Spirit fills the body of Christ. That is why the Bible says Jesus released the Spirit; He had to die on the cross before He breathed out. The Holy Spirit is free. It took the blood of Jesus to cleanse the vessels, The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin, so when the sin is gone, we are Holy again ,so the Holy Spirit can come into our Holy body and keep us Holy . The blood of Jesus was a prerequisite for the release of the Holy Ghost to sanctify the vessels, so He can come and live in all of them and now today we are doing greater works, not greater in quality, but greater in magnitude and quantity. Christ can help people all over the world at the same time, cast out demons all over the world at the same time. His body has grown so big He has many hands now. He is everywhere at one time. He is walking in His body- the Church. The Holy Spirit is God’s personal presence with each one of us. Let go and let God have his way.
